CEN KAOS CNC ALUMINUM WHEEL HEX – 6MM – 2PCS – CKD0205

The CEN Racing CKD0205 KAOS CNC Aluminum Wheel Hex Set is a precision-machined wheel-interface upgrade for compatible CEN DL-Series vehicles. CEN identifies this set as a 6mm CNC aluminum wheel hex package supplied in a quantity of 2 pieces.

VERIFIED CEN PRODUCT DATA

  • Manufacturer: CEN Racing
  • Part Number: CKD0205
  • Series: KAOS
  • Component Type: CNC Aluminum Wheel Hex
  • Published Size: 6mm
  • Material: Aluminum
  • Quantity: 2 pieces
  • Platform: DL-Series

WHAT THE WHEEL HEX DOES

The wheel hex is the mechanical interface between the axle/hub assembly and the wheel. Its job is to transmit drive torque into the wheel while locating the wheel concentrically on the axle system. A properly fitted hex should sit squarely against the mating surface with no rocking, burrs or trapped debris.

6MM FITMENT CONTEXT

CEN publishes CKD0205 as the 6mm version. That dimension should be treated exactly as the manufacturer specifies for this SKU; GASHEAD RC does not reinterpret it as hex across-flats, axle diameter or any other unpublished geometry. Because wheel-position changes affect track width and clearance, CKD0205 should be matched by exact part number and intended DL-Series application rather than selected by appearance alone.

WHY CNC ALUMINUM MATTERS

A machined aluminum wheel hex provides a rigid torque-transfer interface with controlled geometry. In service, the key benefits are consistent seating, reduced deformation compared with softer interfaces and predictable wheel location when the rest of the axle/hub system is in good condition.

INSTALLATION CHECKLIST

  • Confirm the vehicle parts list calls for CKD0205 or an explicitly compatible 6mm DL-Series wheel hex.
  • Inspect the axle pin, axle shaft and mating hub surfaces for wear or damage.
  • Remove grit, burrs and debris before installing the hex.
  • Seat the hex fully and squarely against the intended shoulder/interface.
  • Confirm any drive pin engages the hex correctly and is not pinched or partially displaced.
  • Install the wheel and verify it seats flat against the hex face.
  • Rotate the wheel by hand and check for lateral wobble or eccentric seating.
  • Verify steering and suspension clearance through full travel.
  • Recheck wheel-retaining hardware after the first driving session.

DRIVE-PIN & AXLE INTERFACE

Many RC wheel-hex systems rely on a transverse axle pin to transfer torque into the hex. If the pin is worn, bent or not fully seated, a new aluminum hex cannot correct the underlying problem. Inspect the pin and axle slot together whenever there is rotational play at the wheel.

COMMON FAILURE SYMPTOMS

  • Wheel rocks on the axle: inspect hex seating, wheel interface, axle pin and bearing play.
  • Visible wobble: may come from debris, incomplete seating, a bent axle or a damaged wheel rather than the hex itself.
  • Repeated loosening: inspect wheel nut retention, wheel-face seating and axle threads.
  • Rounded or damaged interface: indicates poor seating, incompatible wheel geometry or continued use with loose hardware.
  • Unequal left/right track width: verify matching hexes and complete seating on both sides.

WHEEL OFFSET & CLEARANCE

The wheel hex forms part of the vehicle’s effective wheel-position stack-up. Changing hex geometry can influence track width, steering scrub, body clearance and tire-to-suspension clearance. For that reason, do not substitute a visually similar hex of a different thickness unless the entire fitment has been checked.

SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

Keep the hex and wheel mating faces clean. Fine grit trapped between the two surfaces can prevent full seating and create apparent wheel runout. During regular service, inspect the axle pin, hex slot and wheel interface for peening or elongation caused by running with loose hardware.

WHAT CEN DOES NOT PUBLISH

CEN confirms the CNC aluminum construction, 6mm published size, two-piece quantity and DL-Series application, but does not publish a complete current specification set for across-flats dimension, bore diameter, effective offset, individual part weight, exact aluminum alloy or anodizing specification. GASHEAD RC does not invent those values.

GASHEAD RC NOTE

CKD0205 is a small part with a major job: it is directly in the driveline load path. Correct seating, a healthy axle pin and a flat wheel interface matter more than simply tightening the wheel nut harder. Match the exact 6mm DL-Series application and inspect the full wheel/axle stack whenever there is play or wobble.
