The RC4WD VVV-C0337 Krabs Front Bumper is a heavy-duty steel front bumper designed for the Axial SCX10 II XJ platform. Its compact tube-based structure, welded construction and black powder-coated finish give the XJ a much more functional trail-truck front end while providing a mounting architecture for optional scale lighting and winch hardware.

HEAVY-DUTY STEEL TUBE CONSTRUCTION

RC4WD specifies heavy-duty steel tube construction with hand-welded joints. The bumper is finished in black powder coat for corrosion resistance and durability in normal trail use.

181MM WIDTH & FRONT-END PROTECTION

At 181mm wide, the bumper spans the front of the XJ body while remaining compact enough to preserve a trail-oriented profile. The exact effect on approach angle depends on chassis setup, ride height, tire diameter and how the bumper is positioned on the truck, but the steel-tube structure is clearly intended to provide a stronger first point of contact than the body shell itself.

WINCH-READY ACCESSORY POTENTIAL

RC4WD shows the Krabs bumper with the 1/10 Mini Warn 9.5cti Winch – Z-E0009 as an optional accessory. The winch shown in manufacturer photography is not included. Before final installation, verify fairlead alignment, drum clearance and cable path so the winch line exits cleanly without rubbing on the bumper structure.

OPTIONAL LIGHTING

The bumper is compatible with RC4WD scale lighting options including the 1/10 Hella Style Round Lights – VVV-C0363. RC4WD also lists other compatible light families such as Rally 3000 Hella and detailed IPF round/square lights. These lighting components are optional and are not included with VVV-C0337 unless specifically purchased separately.

SCX10 II FITMENT

RC4WD lists VVV-C0337 as fitting the Axial SCX10 II Truck, and manufacturer imagery shows it installed on the SCX10 II XJ configuration. It should not be treated as a universal bumper for unrelated chassis without independently confirming frame-rail spacing, mount geometry and body clearance.

INSTALLATION CHECKLIST

• Dry-fit the bumper and mounting plate before tightening hardware.
• Center the bumper relative to the grille and front fenders.
• Confirm tire clearance at full steering lock and full suspension compression.
• Check approach-angle interference with the truck at intended ride height.
• If adding a winch, verify fairlead and cable alignment before final tightening.
• If adding lights, route wiring away from sharp steel edges and moving suspension components.
• Tighten small M1 hardware carefully to avoid stripping.
• Re-check all M3 fasteners after the first trail sessions.
• Inspect powder-coated areas after hard rock contact and touch up exposed steel if needed.

WHY THIS BUMPER WORKS ON AN XJ BUILD

The Krabs bumper keeps the XJ's front end visually compact while adding real metal structure, winch capability and optional auxiliary lighting. At 213g, it also adds meaningful sprung mass to the nose of the truck, so front spring preload and ride height should be checked after installation—especially if a winch and lights are added.

GASHEAD RC NOTE: A steel bumper is only as useful as its mounting and setup. Install it square, verify tire/body clearance at full articulation and keep added winch mass as close to the chassis as practical. That gives you the protection and scale look without unnecessarily compromising front suspension behavior.
