The EcoDrive is a heavy-duty continuously variable transmission designed for Tamiya 1/14 semi-truck platforms and custom scale projects. Instead of using fixed gear steps, the CVT changes its effective ratio continuously within its operating range, giving the drivetrain a smoother automatic response under changing load and speed conditions.

Fitment & Installation

RC4WD designed the EcoDrive for Tamiya 1/14 semi-truck platforms, but it is not a zero-modification swap in every chassis. RC4WD specifically notes that the stock driveshaft must be changed, and some installations may require minor body-mount or crossmember clearance work depending on the truck and driveshaft selected.

Important Operating Notes

• The transmission can become hot during operation. Do not touch it immediately after use; allow it to cool first.
• Confirm driveshaft length and 5 mm output compatibility before installation.
• Verify motor rpm and voltage stay within RC4WD's recommended range.
• The unit can be painted with suitable metal paint if a custom finish is desired.

GASHEAD RC Installation Note

At roughly 742 g, the EcoDrive is significantly heavier than a typical stock semi-truck transmission. Check chassis support, crossmember clearance and driveshaft angles before final tightening. If you are converting from the stock Tamiya transmission, plan the driveshaft solution before beginning the swap rather than treating it as a bolt-in replacement.
