CEN KAOS HEAVY DUTY DIFFERENTIAL GEAR SET – CKQ0217
The CEN Racing CKQ0217 KAOS Heavy Duty Differential Gear Set is an upgraded differential gear package for compatible Q-Series, MT-Series and DL-Series vehicles. CEN specifically lists it for Fiat 595, Suzuki Jimny, Ford B50/HL150 and as an upgrade for all DL-Series F450 SD applications.
VERIFIED CEN PRODUCT DATA
- Manufacturer: CEN Racing
- Part Number: CKQ0217
- Series: KAOS
- Component Type: Heavy Duty Differential Gear Set
- Platform: Q-Series / MT-Series / DL-Series
- Verified Applications: Fiat 595, Suzuki Jimny, Ford B50/HL150
- DL-Series Fitment: Upgrade for all F450 SD models
DIFFERENTIAL FUNCTION
The differential gear set transfers torque through the axle while allowing the left and right wheels to rotate at different speeds in a turn. That speed difference is what reduces tire scrub and driveline wind-up compared with a fully locked axle under normal cornering conditions.
WHY HEAVY DUTY GEARS MATTER
CEN markets CKQ0217 as a heavy-duty upgrade. In practical driveline terms, a stronger gear set is intended for more demanding torque loads, but durability still depends on correct mesh, bearing support, lubrication and case alignment. Heavy-duty gears are not immune to damage caused by poor assembly or worn support components.
FITMENT
CKQ0217 should be matched by exact part number and platform. CEN explicitly lists it for the Fiat 595, Suzuki Jimny and Ford B50/HL150 Q/MT platforms, and also as an upgrade for all DL-Series F450 SD trucks.
INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
- Confirm the differential application calls for CKQ0217.
- Inspect the differential case for cracks, distortion or worn bearing seats.
- Inspect bearings for play, roughness or contamination before reusing them.
- Check all mating gear teeth for pitting, chips, burrs or asymmetrical wear.
- Verify shafts and outdrives rotate true and are not bent.
- Assemble the gear set squarely with proper support and no forced misalignment.
- Rotate the differential by hand before sealing the case and check for repeating tight spots.
- Use the lubrication method appropriate for the exact differential design.
- After installation, recheck for unusual heat, binding or noise after the first operating session.
GEAR MESH & ALIGNMENT
Differential gears rely on stable shaft and bearing alignment. Excessive bearing play, distorted housings or improperly seated components can shift the contact pattern under load. That can create edge-loading, noise and accelerated tooth wear even when the gears themselves are new.
COMMON FAILURE SYMPTOMS
- Clicking under load: can indicate chipped teeth, excessive backlash or damaged support bearings.
- Binding during hand rotation: may indicate misalignment, damaged teeth or an incorrectly seated component.
- Metallic debris: points to active wear and should trigger inspection of the complete differential.
- Excessive axle play: can alter gear engagement and should be traced to bearings, shafts, outdrives or housing fit.
- Uneven tooth polishing: can indicate poor contact pattern or case/shaft misalignment.
MATING COMPONENT INSPECTION
Do not install a fresh heavy-duty gear set into a differential with badly worn bearings, bent shafts or damaged outdrives. The surrounding components determine whether the new gears maintain correct alignment under load.
LUBRICATION & CONTAMINATION
Follow the lubrication method used by the exact CEN differential assembly. Avoid assuming more lubricant is always better. Clean assembly, correct quantity and exclusion of abrasive debris are more important than overpacking the case.
WHAT CEN DOES NOT PUBLISH
CEN confirms CKQ0217 as the Heavy Duty Differential Gear Set for Q/MT-Series and DL-Series applications, but does not publish a complete current specification set for tooth counts, differential ratio, individual gear materials, hardness, pressure angle, gear module/pitch, individual dimensions or exact piece count. GASHEAD RC does not invent those values.
GASHEAD RC NOTE
If CKQ0217 is being installed because the original differential failed, inspect the root cause before closing the case. Worn bearings, misalignment, damaged outdrives or contaminated lubrication can destroy a new heavy-duty gear set quickly if they are left uncorrected.
