CEN KAOS TENSION BAR SET – 1.5MM / 2.0MM / 2.25MM – CKQ0328
The CEN Racing CKQ0328 Tension Bar Set is the tuning-bar set designed for the KAOS CKQ0327 sway bar system. CEN specifies CKQ0328 for compatible MT-Series and DL-Series applications and supplies three different bar sizes so the anti-roll system can be tuned by changing bar stiffness.
VERIFIED PRODUCT DATA

WHAT THE TENSION BAR DOES
Within the CKQ0327 sway-bar system, the tension bar provides the torsional spring element that resists differential suspension movement between the left and right sides of the axle. When one side of the suspension compresses more than the other, the bar twists and transfers resistance through the sway-bar linkage.
THREE BAR SIZES FOR CHASSIS TUNING
CEN supplies 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.25mm bars in this set. As an engineering principle, when bars share comparable material and effective geometry, increasing bar diameter increases torsional stiffness. In practical RC setup terms, the three sizes allow the CKQ0327 system to be tuned from a softer anti-roll response toward a firmer response. CEN does not publish numerical spring-rate values for these bars, so GASHEAD RC does not assign percentage stiffness changes.
FITMENT
CKQ0328 is specifically intended for the CEN KAOS CKQ0327 sway bar system. CEN lists the set for both MT-Series and DL-Series. Match by exact CKQ0327/CKQ0328 part numbers rather than assuming the bars fit unrelated sway-bar assemblies with visually similar hardware.
MT-SERIES APPLICATION CONTEXT
CEN identifies CKQ0327 as a front-or-rear sway-bar system for MT-Series Ford B50 / HL150 applications. CKQ0328 provides the alternate tension bars used within that KAOS system.
DL-SERIES APPLICATION CONTEXT
CEN also explicitly lists CKQ0328 for DL-Series use. Because the manufacturer does not publish a complete current application matrix showing every DL-Series installation detail, GASHEAD RC does not infer axle position, bracket orientation or model-by-model hardware requirements beyond the verified CKQ0327 compatibility.
SETUP PRINCIPLES
- Softer bar: generally allows greater left/right suspension independence and more articulation.
- Stiffer bar: generally increases resistance to chassis roll and differential axle movement.
- Front/rear balance: changing bar stiffness at one axle can alter overall handling balance, so setup changes should be made methodically.
- One change at a time: test one bar change before altering shocks, springs or link geometry so the effect remains identifiable.
INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
- Confirm the vehicle uses the compatible CEN KAOS CKQ0327 sway-bar assembly.
- Select the desired bar size before final assembly.
- Inspect the sway-bar arms, pivots, links and mounting hardware for wear or binding.
- Install the bar without bending or forcing it through misaligned supports.
- Center the bar so left and right engagement is symmetrical.
- Verify both sway-bar arms sit at comparable angles at static ride height.
- Cycle the suspension independently on each side and confirm free movement.
- Check for chassis, driveshaft, shock or link interference at full travel.
- Recheck hardware after the first driving session.
PRELOAD & SYMMETRY
A sway bar should not be unintentionally preloaded at normal ride height unless the setup specifically calls for it. Unequal link length, arm position or bar centering can create side-to-side preload and make the vehicle react differently in left versus right turns.
COMMON SETUP PROBLEMS
- Vehicle leans differently left vs. right: inspect bar centering, link length and arm indexing.
- Suspension binds: check pivot freedom, arm alignment and whether the bar is contacting another component.
- Very limited articulation: confirm the selected bar is appropriate for the intended terrain and that no mechanical bind exists.
- Little change after swapping bars: inspect for loose arms, excessive linkage play or a bar that is not being engaged correctly.
- Repeated loose hardware: inspect for assembly misalignment or components operating under preload.
MAINTENANCE
Keep the bar and pivot areas clean, particularly after running in dust, mud or debris. Inspect the bar for bending, wear marks or corrosion and check all sway-bar linkage hardware periodically. Free-moving pivots are essential if the selected tension bar is to produce a consistent tuning effect.
WHAT CEN DOES NOT PUBLISH
CEN confirms CKQ0328, compatibility with CKQ0327, MT-Series and DL-Series use, and one bar each in 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.25mm sizes. Current published information does not specify bar material grade, heat treatment, exact overall length, effective torsion length, spring rate, percentage stiffness difference between sizes, weight or installation torque values. GASHEAD RC does not invent those specifications.
GASHEAD RC NOTE
This is a genuine chassis-tuning component, not merely replacement hardware. The three bar diameters give the CKQ0327 system a practical way to alter anti-roll response while keeping the rest of the suspension setup unchanged. Record which diameter is installed and evaluate handling changes systematically.
