The CROSSRC EMO XX2 Tyrannosaurus is a true large-scale crawler: approximately one meter long, built around a 2.5mm stamped-steel frame and powered by a 6S-capable 4985 brushless system. This is not a stretched 1/10 trail truck. Its oversized drivetrain, 70kg steering servo, 26mm CNC shocks and full-size pickup body are engineered for the weight, torque and terrain demands of the 1/5 platform.

GASHEAD RC QUICK TAKE

Buy the XX2 for scale presence and heavy-duty mechanical construction, not because it fits in the same places as an ordinary crawler. It needs room to transport, charge, turn and stop. In return, it delivers the visual impact of a large expedition pickup with a steel-geared 4WD drivetrain and 6S brushless power that smaller platforms simply cannot imitate.

THIS LISTING: XX2 4X4 BRUSHLESS VERSION

The EMO XX2 family is sold in three major configurations: an ARTR platform without main electronics, a dual-775 brushed version and a 4985 brushless version. This GASHEAD RC product is the EMO XX2 4x4 brushless configuration, built around a Hobbywing 150A ESC and 4985-size 1650KV motor with 3S–6S LiPo capability.

Do not confuse the four-wheel XX2 with the longer six-wheel XXL2. Some manufacturer material shows both models together because they share the Tyrannosaurus architecture. The product offered here is the four-wheel-drive pickup shown in the primary gallery.

6S BRUSHLESS POWER SYSTEM

The installed 4985-size motor is rated at 1650KV and paired with a Hobbywing 150A brushless ESC. Published compatibility for this version is 3S through 6S LiPo. At this scale, voltage choice affects more than top speed: it changes torque response, heat, braking load and how quickly a heavy truck can build momentum.

A conservative setup is the correct starting point. Program soft initial acceleration, verify low-voltage cutoff for the battery being used and monitor motor, ESC and connector temperatures. Full 6S power should be treated as an advanced setting for open terrain, not as permission to use full throttle whenever the truck is wedged against a rock.

2.5MM STAMPED-STEEL FRAME

The XX2 uses a simulated full-size ladder frame made from 2.5mm steel plate. The rails are pressure-stamped to create section strength instead of relying on a thin flat strip. Reinforced upper-link mounts and a steel lateral track-bar mount help distribute the forces created by the truck’s weight and large suspension components.

A low-center-of-gravity component layout keeps the battery and heavy driveline components low between the rails. That matters on a vehicle this tall: body detail looks impressive, but chassis placement is what keeps the truck predictable on climbs and sidehills.

STEEL-GEARED TRANSMISSION AND HEAVY-DUTY DRIVELINE

The transmission uses steel-cut shift and output gears, with steel-cut bevel gears transferring load into the axles. A 63-tooth nylon silent main gear reduces gear noise and provides a serviceable interface within an otherwise metal-intensive drivetrain.

The center driveshaft uses steel universal joints. Up front, CVD universal half-shafts preserve steering articulation under power; the rear axle uses steel straight half-shafts. Full-vehicle ABEC3 high-speed bearings support the rotating assemblies.

Large-scale torque rewards smooth inputs. When a tire is trapped, adding throttle can transfer enormous load into the gear teeth, shafts and servo-operated mechanisms. Back out, reposition and let the geometry work.

SHIFTING AND DIFFERENTIAL CONTROL

The XX2 platform uses three factory-installed 25kg, 7.4V high-voltage servos to operate its transmission and differential functions. CROSSRC uses full-servo-stroke control mechanisms to reduce the setup sensitivity that can burn or stall an auxiliary servo when endpoints are incorrect.

Even with that protection, shift and lock mechanisms should be operated with minimal driveline load. If a control does not engage immediately, roll the truck slightly to align the gears rather than holding the switch against resistance.

70KG HIGH-VOLTAGE STEERING SERVO

The brushless package specifies a 70kg, 7.4V high-voltage steering servo sized for the mass and tire footprint of the XX2. A CNC steering-buffer system helps isolate impact loads before they reach the servo gears. The axle geometry is designed for stable tracking with controlled Ackermann, kingpin inclination and caster rather than extreme steering angle at any cost.

Check steering endpoints with the truck supported. The servo should reach the mechanical limit without continuing to buzz or push. Incorrect endpoints create heat, drain the receiver power system and can damage the servo.

26MM CNC HYDRAULIC SHOCKS

The 26mm-diameter dampers are CNC-machined from aluminum and use adjustable spring preload. Published maximum stroke is approximately 40mm. Their size provides the oil volume and shaft support needed to control a heavy 1/5 chassis rather than allowing it to bounce from obstacle to obstacle.

Ten-millimeter aluminum chassis links locate the axles, while steel rear balance links help manage the long pickup body during faster terrain transitions. Adjust preload in small, matched increments and evaluate the truck with its normal battery installed.

ROCK BREAKER MT TIRES

CROSSRC ROCK BREAKER MT crawler tires use a dense arrangement of vertical tread blocks intended to grip ledges and broken rock faces. They are mounted to clamp-style nylon wheels so the tire assembly can be serviced without permanent adhesive.

Large tires store considerable rotating energy. Inspect wheel hardware, clamps and axle nuts after the first run and after any hard impact. If water enters the tire or foam, dry it before storage to prevent imbalance and deterioration.

FULL PICKUP BODY AND FUNCTIONAL CARGO BED

The finished polycarbonate cab uses modern off-road pickup proportions with an independent molded nylon cargo bed. Unlike a shallow decorative panel, the bed provides usable scale cargo space and supports expedition accessories. Roof and bed racks, spare-recovery boards, bumpers and body protection give the truck a complete appearance directly from the factory.

Because the XX2 is approximately one meter long, measure transport space before purchase. This truck needs a proper work area and secure vehicle transport; the back seat and wishful thinking are not specifications.

HIGH-POWER LINKED LIGHTING

The lighting system integrates front, rear, roof and auxiliary elements with a strobe mode. It is intended to function as a linked system rather than a collection of independent decorative LEDs, giving the XX2 strong visibility and a distinctive nighttime presentation.

Lighting adds electrical load and wiring complexity. Inspect connectors after body removal and avoid pinching wires between the body, battery and frame.

  3. Program conservative throttle, brake and low-voltage settings before the first run.
  4. Set steering endpoints so the 70kg servo does not push beyond the mechanical stops.
  5. Identify transmission and differential controls with the wheels off the ground.
  6. Check wheel hardware, suspension links, driveshaft fasteners and shock caps.
  7. Test at low speed in an open area and learn the vehicle’s braking distance.
  8. Monitor motor, ESC, battery and connector temperature throughout the first sessions.
