DIECAST MASTERS FREIGHTLINER CASCADIA 1/16 RC RAISED-ROOF SLEEPER CAB — RTR

The DCM27006 brings one of North America’s most recognizable long-haul tractors to life as a large 1/16-scale, officially licensed radio-control model. This is more than a shelf piece with a motor hidden underneath: it combines a factory-painted Freightliner Cascadia raised-roof sleeper body, metal-and-plastic construction, proportional road control, a working fifth wheel, a complete lighting system and synchronized truck sound. It is built for the collector who wants convincing scale presence and for the operator who wants a semi that behaves like a semi.

WHY IT BELONGS IN A SERIOUS RC TRUCK COLLECTION

At approximately 23 inches long and about 2.2 kg before adding a trailer, the Cascadia has the physical presence that smaller desktop models simply cannot match. The body arrives painted and decorated, with mirrors, steps, tanks, chassis details and tandem rear axles already assembled. Its blue finish and bright trim look right in a display cabinet, but the proportional controls and fifth-wheel system make it equally at home pulling a compatible Diecast Masters 1/16 trailer.

  • Officially licensed Freightliner replica: accurate Cascadia raised-roof sleeper styling rather than a generic semi body.
  • True RTR package: truck, transmitter, rechargeable drive battery, USB charging cable, transmitter batteries and instructions are included.
  • Digital proportional control: throttle and steering respond progressively instead of behaving like simple full-on/full-off toy controls.
  • Working fifth wheel: kingpin lock and unlock can be operated from the transmitter for realistic trailer coupling.
  • Light and sound package: headlights, cab markers, turn signals, brake lights, taillights, backup lights, hazard functions and realistic sounds add scale realism.

DIGITAL-PROPORTIONAL 2.4 GHZ CONTROL

The included multi-channel 2.4 GHz transmitter controls forward and reverse travel, left and right steering, lighting, sound and the fifth-wheel coupling function. Proportional control is the important distinction here: small trigger and steering inputs produce smaller vehicle responses, making it much easier to line up with a trailer, maneuver through a scale yard or drive smoothly in a display demonstration.

The published working range is approximately 30 m / 98 ft, with support for multiple 2.4 GHz models operating in the same area with substantially less interference than old crystal-based radios. Maximum speed is approximately 10 km/h / 6.2 mph—quick enough to look convincing on the move without turning a detailed scale tractor into a parking-lot missile.

FUNCTIONAL FIFTH WHEEL AND TRAILER COMPATIBILITY

The chassis includes an operational fifth wheel with transmitter-controlled kingpin lock/unlock. This allows the driver to back under a compatible trailer, secure the kingpin and release it remotely instead of manually lifting the tractor every time. The DCM27006 is designed to work with the Diecast Masters DCM27008 1/16 XL120 trailer system and its supplied connections.

Important: this listing is for the Freightliner tractor only. A trailer is not included unless specifically shown as part of a separate bundle. Trailer photographs or compatibility references explain the coupling system and do not change the contents of this package.

LIGHTING AND SOUND THAT WORK WITH THE DRIVE FUNCTIONS

The lighting package is not decorative paint. The truck uses operational headlights, rear lights, brake lights, turn signals, backup lamps, cab markers and hazard-light control to make low-speed maneuvers more convincing. The sound system provides engine and truck effects and may be switched from the transmitter when quieter operation is preferred.

For a realistic demonstration, use the proportional throttle rather than stabbing the trigger: gradual acceleration, deliberate turns and a slow trailer approach make the Cascadia look much more like the full-size tractor it represents.

POWER SYSTEM AND EXPECTED OPERATION

A brushed motor and metal-geared transmission drive the rear wheels in a 2WD configuration. The included 7.4 V 2000 mAh 2S rechargeable lithium battery supplies the truck’s drive, lighting and sound systems. Published operating time is up to approximately 40 minutes while loaded or 60 minutes unloaded, depending on surface, driving style, lighting and sound use, battery condition and the weight being pulled.

  • Motor: brushed
  • Drivetrain: 2WD
  • Transmission: metal-geared

BEFORE THE FIRST RUN

  1. Read the supplied manual and inspect the model for shipping movement before switching it on.
  2. Charge the drive battery with the supplied cable on a nonflammable surface and never leave a charging lithium battery unattended.
  3. Install the battery without pinching wires and confirm that the connector is fully seated.
  4. Use the truck on a clean, dry and reasonably smooth surface; it is a detailed scale model, not a waterproof off-road basher.
  5. When coupling a trailer, align the kingpin carefully and use slow proportional inputs to protect the fifth-wheel mechanism.

GASHEAD RC VERDICT: The DCM27006 is a proper large-scale RC semi for collectors who care about the details that make trucking believable: a licensed sleeper cab, controlled low-speed movement, working road lights, truck sound and a fifth wheel you can operate from the radio. Display it clean or pair it with the compatible 1/16 lowboy system—the Cascadia has enough size and function to command attention either way.
