The CROSSRC EMO X3 is a serious 1/8-scale recovery crawler built to tow, climb and command attention. It combines a reinforced 4WD EMO chassis, portal axles, remote differential locks, a two-speed metal-gear transmission and functional recovery equipment in a large RTR package. This GASHEAD RC bundle goes one step further by including the vehicle battery and charger needed to get the truck operating.

BUILT AROUND A REAL RECOVERY-TRUCK CONCEPT
The EMO X3 is based on an off-road rescue vehicle rather than a conventional short-bed trail truck. The rear module uses a mast-style structure, boom, cable and tow-hook arrangement to create functional recovery scenarios with other scale vehicles. A metal anti-skid rear deck, external fuel-can detail and warning graphics complete the working-truck appearance.
The included recovery hook is operated through the original radio system. The platform also provides reserved radio capability and mounting potential for an optional dual-motor winch arrangement that can add remote boom tilt or lift functions. Optional equipment is not represented as included unless it is physically present in the package.


REINFORCED FRAME FOR TOWING LOADS
CROSSRC developed the X3 around the heavy-duty reinforced girder concept used for longer EMO platforms. The larger frame section is intended to resist twisting when the recovery boom, tow hook or a modified high-power system places additional load on the chassis. Reinforced ball ends and M4 stainless-steel load links help the suspension and frame manage recovery work without turning the truck into a flexible display model.
A hidden quick-release body retention system keeps the exterior cleaner than exposed body posts while allowing maintenance access. The recovery module can also be removed to reduce rear weight and convert the truck into a more conventional long-wheelbase climbing platform.


TWO-SPEED METAL-GEAR TRANSMISSION
The X3 uses a reverse-layout two-speed gearbox with a broad ratio spread. Published final-drive figures are approximately 17.8:1 in high gear and 38.9:1 in low gear. Low range improves throttle resolution and torque multiplication for crawling, controlled towing and steep descents. High range increases wheel speed for open trails and repositioning.
The drivetrain includes all-metal transmission gears, a reinforced 60-tooth spur gear, a 20-tooth metal pinion and an adjustable slipper clutch. The slipper is an important mechanical fuse: properly adjusted, it can absorb shock loads before they reach the transmission and axle gears. Locking it solid for maximum pull may also remove that protection.
Shift only with minimal drivetrain load. If the truck is pushing against a rock or holding a towed vehicle on a slope, release the throttle and remove the load before changing range.
PORTAL AXLES WITH REMOTE DIFFERENTIAL LOCKS
EMO X portal axles raise the axle input above the wheel center to improve clearance beneath the differential housings. The housings use durable reinforced nylon with metal internal gears, balancing impact resistance with drivetrain strength. Both front and rear differentials can be locked for maximum traction when a wheel becomes unloaded.
Run unlocked where steering radius and smooth surface behavior matter; engage the locks for loose climbs, diagonal articulation and low-grip recovery work. Avoid forcing a differential servo while the gears are bound. A slight roll forward or backward helps the locking mechanism align without unnecessary servo load.

CVD DRIVELINE AND LOAD-BEARING HARDWARE
Power is carried through CVD driveshaft components, metal universal joints and reinforced nylon slider sections. The mixed-material design is intended to handle articulation while preserving a replaceable element within the driveline. High-precision ABEC3 rubber-sealed bearings reduce friction and extend maintenance intervals when kept clean and dry.
The original rear balance-link mechanism is designed to keep the long recovery body composed during faster trail transitions. It works with the rear four-link arrangement to manage axle movement without giving up the articulation expected from a solid-axle crawler.
25T BRUSHED POWER AND HOBBYWING WP-880 ESC
A CROSSRC 25-turn high-torque brushed motor provides the predictable low-speed response needed for towing and technical crawling. The Hobbywing WP-880 brushed ESC supports the selectable drivetrain functions and is rated for 2S–4S operation. This GASHEAD RC package includes a 3S 5200mAh battery, giving the truck a strong balance of wheel speed, torque and usable trail runtime.
The ESC may be described as waterproof by its manufacturer, but the complete vehicle should be treated as water-resistant. Deep immersion can still damage servos, bearings, connectors and lighting hardware. After wet running, clean gently, dry completely and lubricate exposed metal where appropriate.
SOLID-AXLE SUSPENSION WITH CNC ALUMINUM SHOCKS
The front axle is located by stainless-steel links and a Panhard bar; the rear uses a four-link system with a balance bar. Large-diameter aluminum coil-over shocks use threaded preload adjustment for precise ride-height and spring-preload changes.
For recovery work, the goal is controlled weight transfer rather than maximum ride height. Excessive preload raises the center of gravity and can reduce articulation. Make small, equal changes from side to side and test the truck with its normal battery and recovery equipment installed.
2.2-INCH BEADLOCK WHEELS AND VELOCIRAPTOR TIRES
The X3 rides on approximately 136 × 55mm CROSSRC Velociraptor all-terrain tires mounted to 2.2-inch beadlock wheels. Their large diameter supports portal clearance and helps the truck roll over ledges, while the tread is designed to work across hard trail surfaces, loose dirt and rock.
Check beadlock hardware and wheel nuts after the first run. The additional mass of a 1/8 recovery truck can loosen hardware faster than a light 1/10 crawler, especially during towing or sidehill use.
SIX-CHANNEL RADIO AND INSTALLED SERVOS
The 2.4GHz six-channel transmitter/receiver system provides the auxiliary controls required by the X3. Factory electronics include a DS-R003C digital steering servo and SO11M digital auxiliary servos for differential locks and the two-speed transmission. The exact switch assignment should be confirmed from the supplied manual before the first run.
Test every auxiliary function with the truck supported and the wheels free. Correctly identify high/low gear, front lock, rear lock, lights and recovery-hook control before loading the drivetrain on terrain.

MULTI-MODE LED LIGHTING
A high-power lighting system supports normal driving and recovery presentation. The center warning light offers multiple modes and can be controlled remotely, giving the X3 the visual identity of a working trail-rescue vehicle rather than a pickup carrying decorative parts.
