RC4WD REAR BED FOR 6X6 OVERLAND TRUCK – VVV-S0240

The RC4WD VVV-S0240 Rear Bed for 6x6 Overland Truck is a large-format billet-aluminum cargo-bed assembly designed for the 1/14 Overland 6x6 platform. RC4WD machines the structure from aluminum and finishes it in silver anodizing, creating a rigid, corrosion-resistant rear body section with the scale mass and machined detail expected from a premium heavy-machinery / overland truck build.

CNC-MACHINED BILLET ALUMINUM

RC4WD specifies the VVV-S0240 as CNC machined from billet aluminum. Compared with a molded plastic bed, the machined structure provides higher rigidity and a distinctly mechanical appearance, while the silver anodized finish protects the surface and emphasizes the industrial construction.

451MM LONG-BED GEOMETRY

At 451mm long, this is not a compact accessory tray. It is a full rear-body section sized around a 6x6 overland truck architecture. The long deck changes both the visual proportion of the truck and the way cargo mass is distributed over the rear tandem axle group.

When adding scale cargo, toolboxes, spare tires or expedition accessories, keep heavy items as low and as close to the center of the tandem axle group as practical. Loading substantial mass at the extreme rear increases rear overhang leverage and can reduce front-axle loading.

1.56KG OF REAR-BODY MASS

The bed itself weighs 1.56kg / 3.43lb before any cargo or accessories are added. That mass should be treated as part of the chassis setup. Depending on the final build, rear spring rate, preload, shock damping and front/rear balance may need adjustment after installation.

Because this mass sits high relative to the chassis rails, stacking additional heavy accessories above the bed can also raise the vehicle's center of gravity. For a scale overland build, realistic loading and suspension setup matter just as much as appearance.

MACHINED STRUCTURE & FASTENER LOAD PATH

The bed uses machined panels and structural sections tied together through small-scale hardware. The included M2 flat-head screws help maintain a flush exterior appearance while clamping the bed assembly into its intended mounting structure.

For a long aluminum body section like this, mounting alignment matters. Do not use the fasteners to pull a twisted or misaligned bed into position. Dry-fit the assembly first, confirm that the bed sits square to the chassis and that all holes line up naturally before final tightening.

INSTALLATION CHECKLIST

  • Confirm the intended Overland 6x6 platform and mounting architecture before installation.
  • Dry-fit the bed before tightening any M2 hardware.
  • Verify the bed sits square to the chassis and centered over the rear axle group.
  • Do not force misaligned holes together with the mounting screws.
  • Check rear suspension sag after adding the 1.56kg bed.
  • Re-evaluate spring preload and damping if the truck becomes rear-heavy.
  • Keep heavy cargo low and near the tandem axle group whenever possible.
  • Inspect M2 hardware after the first operating sessions.
  • Protect anodized surfaces from trapped grit between cargo and bed panels.

BEST USE CASE

VVV-S0240 is best suited to builders creating a premium 1/14 overland, expedition, utility or support truck where a large metal cargo bed is central to the vehicle's identity. Its billet-aluminum construction and long-bed dimensions make it particularly appropriate for detailed heavy-duty builds rather than lightweight performance-focused platforms.

GASHEAD RC NOTE: The 1.56kg bed is only the starting point. Once scale cargo, spare tires and expedition hardware are added, rear weight can climb quickly. Build the suspension and cargo layout around the bed from the beginning instead of treating it as a cosmetic final step.
